Worship Arts DirectorLaVada grew up in Central California as the oldest of her siblings, with her family. She graduated from San Jose State University with a B.A. in Mathematics and Computer Science. And shortly afterwards, began her career as a Systems Test Engineer for Lockheed Martin Aerospace Company. Sundays, however, were spent at the local Baptist church where she came to know the Lord, and discovered her passion for singing and Christian music.
In her spare time, she began singing professionally in various church and community settings, and later joined Azimuth Music Ministries where she found great joy in song writing, arranging, and CD productions, and made many friends along the way. In 1995 she moved to Denver, Colorado to marry Tom, the man she loves. They began attending Cherry Hills Community Church (CHCC), where she sang with the praise team for several years. It was during this time in her life that she began to sense God calling her into worship leading. "I am especially grateful to so many at CHCC who loved on me, mentored me, and supported me through this process," says LaVada. She later served as Worship Arts Intern for Colorado Community Church, and eventually became the music director at New Beginnings Community Church. Meanwhile, with Tom's support, she was able to go back to school to earn a Bachelor's degree in Music Education (BME), graduating in the spring of 2007.
LaVada and Tom spent the next few months making one of their dreams a reality by giving up their jobs in the "big city" and moving to the beautiful countryside of Wisconsin. Tom, LaVada, and Hank (aka "spoiled kitty") settled into a lovely home in the county of Waupaca where they presently live. After a couple rounds of job hunting, "soul-searching", and much prayer LaVada was named Worhip Arts Director at Faith Community Church where she serves today. Tom and LaVada enjoy spending their free time together camping, hiking, and motorcycling. Most Fridays, the Torzewski's can be found dining at a local fish fry or pizza place. "Hope to see you there!"(715) 258-8857 ext. 14
