Much has already been said about leadership...more than probably is necessary. Sometimes, I think, the subject has been "talked out" with little actually being done.
But not at FCC! God's people are serving here and it certainly shows. From FCC's kitchen chock full of happy volunteers all the way out to the signage in our parking lot (and let's not forget our new billboard on highway 22), God's handiwork can be clearly seen. Of course all praise, honor, and glory goes to the Lord, but it is my observation is that FCC has come a long ways in its 30 years of history. And, I believe "we are right on track for such a time as this." Never before have I seen the relationships and the ministry at FCC as composed, organized, and effective as they are presently. It is clear that those who are serving do so from their respective passion and giftedness. It is quite evident they are serving selflessly with an attitude of other's centeredness. It is a joy to behold. Those who served with any other kinds of motives have long ago moved on.
Some recent observations:
- the worship and the music at the weekend services are extraordinary! It is better or as good as in any church I've ever attended in more than 30 years. I thank God for LaVada Torzewski's passion and the superb leadership she gives her team. What a great group of volunteers who serve and lead us week after week!
- the kitchen ministry under Brenda Roe has never been better! Brenda and the people who serve with her to provide us coffee and goodies on the weekends are the happiest set of ministry volunteers I've ever seen in our kitchen...each one working together harmoniously. I rarely get yelled at anymore for sneaking an early coffee and donut after first service starts.
- in the 10 years I have been at FCC I cannot remember our facilities being so well taken care of...outside and inside. First Dick Goldie and now Tim Stewart and his crew of trustees and other volunteers have taken good care of God resources. And Tammy Timm, our new custodian, has FCC simply sparkling.
- children's ministries. student ministries. small groups. missions. and much, much more!
Personally, I don't think the FCC ministries have ever been more Spirit-led and effective as they are today. Christians here seem more and more anxious to cooperate with God's leading all while we accept our responsibility to practice His presence day in and day out.
A few closing thoughts to FCC leaders, current and potential:

Authoritative, because people desire reliable leaders who know where they are going and are confident of getting there. Spiritual, because without a strong relationship with God, even the most attractive and competent person cannot lead people to God. Sacrificial, because this trait follows the model of Jesus, who gave Himself for the whole world and who calls us to follow in His steps."
